Life is full of choices and there’s plenty on show in the heartwarming UK Trailer for French coming of age comedy drama Just An Illusion from MetFilm Distribution.
The film comes from French filmmakers Olivier Nakache and Éric Toledano who directed the likes of The Intouchables and Samba to name a few. The film stars Louis Garrel, Camille Cottin, Simon Boublil, and Pierre Lottin. The film was released in France earlier this year and it was critically a box office hit and next month we can find out if it’s worth the hype.
Just An Illusion takes us back to 1985 Paris, France. We follow 13 year old Vincent who is at a crossroads in life, fumbles those big questions it asks. Spending more time fighting with his older brother as unemployment and stirfe threatens life in general.
Synopsis |It’s 1985. Vincent, almost 13, lives in the suburbs of Paris, caught between an older brother who brushes him off and parents who never stop arguing. No longer a child but not yet an adult, Vincent fumbles through life’s big questions—identity, friendship, family and first love—and discovers that the grown-ups don’t seem to have everything figured out either.
Featuring an outstanding debut performance from Simon Boubil and inspired by the directors’ own parents and teenage experiences, the warmly nostalgic film is accompanied by a vibrant 1980s soundtrack. Set against the backdrop of rising unemployment, economic uncertainty and anti-fascist protests in France, JUST AN ILLUSION blends heartfelt humour with an affectionate portrait of adolescence and family life.
Just An Illusion is set for a 11th September release in UK and Irish cinemas.
