Real Madrid will hold a crucial meeting with Vinicius Junior’s representatives on Wednesday as the club looks to resolve growing uncertainty over the Brazilian’s future.
According to El Larguero, Vinicius has rejected Madrid’s latest contract offer, reportedly worth €22 million (£19m) per season until 2031, with Arsenal said to be leading the race for his signature if a new deal cannot be agreed.
The Brazil international’s current contract expires in 2027, meaning he could leave on a free transfer next summer if he chooses not to renew.
Former Real Madrid player and sporting director Pedja Mijatovic believes the situation is becoming increasingly difficult for the Spanish giants.
“Now we know what Real Madrid are offering him and Vinicius has rejected it,” Mijatovic said on El Larguero.
“At this point in the summer, with one year left on his contract, this whole situation clearly tells me that Vinicius is not about to renew.”
The former Montenegro international suggested the financial details of any new proposal are no longer the main issue.
“He can ask for €30m, €35m or €25m, it doesn’t matter. At this stage, he’s already thinking about or evaluating other offers because he’s a great player.”
Arsenal still pushing for winger
Mijatovic also claimed Arsenal are pushing hard to bring the winger to the Premier League.
“Arsenal are very interested in signing him. I have information from England that says Arsenal want to go all out to sign him.”
He added that Madrid may have to consider selling the 26-year-old rather than risk losing him for nothing.
“If he doesn’t want to renew, then at least you have to make an important transfer. We’ll see what happens, but by August there is still no clarity. If you can’t convince him to renew, you have to consider bringing in a lot of money for him.”
