According to the prop maker, the upcoming live-action adaptation of the hit fantasy video game Elden Ring has wrapped filming.
The specific plot details of this adaptation are being kept under wraps, but in the game, you play as the exiled Tarnished, traversing across a war-torn, dark fantasy world called The Lands Between, which revolves around the lost character of Queen Marika, as you try to find the pieces of the shattered Elden Ring, encountering horrid beasts and powerful demigods along the way.
In an Instagram post that featured a photo of film wrap gifts, the prop maker Sean Schofield, who has previously worked on The Witcher and The Rings of Power, described the experience as a “Dream job to end all dream jobs.”
He went on to add, “6 solid months of blood, sweat and tears making the coolest stuff ever, working alongside the best of the best. Can’t share anything else for a very long time, but I couldn’t be more proud of what we did.”
The film is written and directed by English filmmaker and screenwriter Alex Garland, who is known for films such as Ex Machina, Civil War, Annihilation, Warfare and Men. Before his directorial outings, Garland worked with Danny Boyle, penning films like 28 Years Later and some of its subsequent sequels, as well as films like Dredd and Sunshine.
The confirmed ensemble so far is made up of some big names, including Kit Connor, Ben Whishaw, Cailee Spaeny, Tom Burke, Havana Rose Liu, Sonoya Mizuno, Jonathan Pryce, Ruby Cruz, Nick Offerman, John Hodgkinson, Jefferson Hall, Emma Laird and Peter Serafinowicz.
From set photos, we can already tell that the Loathsome Dung Eater will make an appearance at some point, as well as Emma Laird playing one of the most important figures in the game, Queen Marika.
The film is said to be A24’s biggest budget ever, reportedly sitting at over $100 million.
