This October, the BFI London Film Festival 70th edition will take place. Today the festival announce that Jesse Eisenberg‘s The Debut will close the festival with the UK premiere on 18th October.
Last week we learned that Simon Stone’s Elsinore starring Andrew Scott and Olivia Colman will open the proceedings. Both gala’s are set to take place at Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall with the cast expected to be in attendance.
This is the second film directed by Eisenberg that has played at BFI London Film Festival. Back in 2024 A Real Pain debuted, winning 69 awards including 1 Oscar and 2 BAFTAs.
The Debut follows a shy woman is unexpectedly cast in a local production of an original musical. Under the spell of the strong-willed and enigmatic director, she loses herself in the role and the high-stakes world of this community theatre production.
Jesse Eisenberg also stars in his film along side Julianne Moore, Paul Giamatti, Halle Bailey, Havana Rose Liu. Bernadette Peters, Colton Ryan, Lilli Cooper, Maulik Pancholy, and Bonnie Milligan.
